Djibouti Flag Meaning & History
The Djibouti national flag was adopted on June 27, 1977, to celebrate independence from France. The light blue stripe stands for the sky, sea, and the Somali people. The green stripe represents the Earth and the Afar people. The white triangle is for peace, and the red star symbolizes unity and the blood shed for independence. The star has five points, representing that Djibouti is one of the five nations in which the Somali people live.
