Description

Show your love for the Prairie State with our authentic flag of Illinois!

Our Illinois flags are manufactured in America from 100% nylon, a lightweight material that can fly even in gentle winds. Nylon’s lightness also means it can dry quickly, helping prevent mildew growth after rain and humidity. Our Illinois flags are digitally printed using UV-resistant inks, creating bold, vibrant colors that resist fading, even when flown in direct sunlight.

We carry the state flag of Illinois in the sizes 12” x 18”, 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, 6’ x 10’, 8’ x 12’, 10’ x 15’, and 12’ x 18’. The 3’ by 5’ flag is the most popular among our customers and is an excellent fit for our 6’ tangle-free pole. Each IL flag comes equipped with a durable canvas header and brass grommets for easy attachment to any of our outdoor flagpoles

Illinois Flag Meaning & History

In 1914, a contest was held for proposed designs for the Illinois state flag. Lucy Derwent won, and her design became the official state flag in 1915. In the 1960s, the flag was altered to include the state name below the seal. The alteration was signed into law in 1969, and the new flag design was first used in 1970.

The state flag features the Great Seal of Illinois, designed to resemble the United States Seal. It features the date Illinois became a state: 1818. The date 1868 is also displayed on the seal to indicate when the Great Seal was redesigned. The seal also features an eagle and the state’s motto: State Sovereignty, National Union.
