Description
Our Belgium flag is manufactured in the United States out of lightweight, weather-resistant nylon. The lightness of the nylon fabric used in our Belgian flags allows them to fly easily in gentle breezes, creating a dynamic and eye-catching display. Yet they remain durable for outdoor use and dry quickly when wet, helping prevent mildew growth and prolonging the lifespan of your flag. The iconic black, yellow, and red tricolor is digitally printed with fade-resistant inks for bright, vibrant colors.
Each Belgian flag comes equipped with a sturdy canvas heading and two brass grommets for simple installation on one of our outdoor flagpoles. We offer these flags in the sizes 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, and 6’ x 10’. The most popular size is the 3’ by 5’ flag of Belgium, which is a great fit for our 6’ tangle-free flagpole.

Belgium Flag Meaning & History
The classic tricolor flag of Belgium is based on the Duchy of Brabant’s banner, a state of the Holy Roman Empire that formed the first independent Belgian nation. During the Belgian Revolution of 1830, the colors of black, yellow, and red were adopted for the new national flag. However, this flag used a horizontal tricolor design. In 1831, the flag was rotated to a vertical orientation.
Each color corresponds to the seals used by the founding regions of Belgium, each of which had a specially colored lion. Red represents Hainaut, Limburg, and Luxembourg; yellow represents Brabant; and black represents Flanders and Namur.
Belgium Flag vs. German Flag
The flags of Germany and Belgium share very similar colors but different designs. The Belgian flag has three vertical stripes of black, yellow, and red, while the German flag has three horizontal stripes of black, red, and gold.
Flag Flying Days in Belgium
There are several flag-flying holidays in Belgium on which the national banner should be flown. During Easter, the flag is flown on Whit Sunday (also known as Pentecost), which takes place on the 7th Sunday after Easter. Belgium National Day is celebrated each year on July 21st, commemorating the date Leopold I became the first king of Belgium in 1831. Armistice Day, which commemorates the end of World War I, is observed each year on November 11th by several countries, including Belgium.
