Aruba Flag Colors, Meaning & History
Aruba’s flag was adopted on March 18, 1976, as part of an effort to gain autonomy within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The light blue background symbolizes the sea that surrounds the island nation. The yellow lines represent abundance and prosperity, inspired by the historical gold mining industry. The red four-pointed star depicts the points on a compass, and its color stands for the blood of those who died during the island's colonization.
