The Medal Of Honor
The Medal of Honor is the highest and most prestigious personal military decoration that is awarded to recognize service members who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor. About the National Guard
The National Guard got its inception in 1636 when each state had its own militia. Mandated by the Constitution in 1787, this became the foundation for the National Guard’s units today. Honoring the U.S. Air Force on Air Force Day
In 1947, President Truman declared August 1st to be Air Force Day. This declaration came at a critical point in the history of the U.S. Air Force, as U.S. air power had been critical to the Allies’ victory in World War II.
