Description

Show your commitment to the teachings of the Buddha outside your home or place of worship with a flag of Buddhism!

Our Buddhism flags are proudly made in the United States out of nylon, a durable and weather-resistant material built for outdoor flying. Nylon is a lightweight fabric, allowing it to fly easily in gentle breezes. The striped design is digitally printed with fade-resistant inks for bold, vibrant colors.

Each Buddhism flag measures 3’ by 5’, making it a great choice for our bestselling 6’ tangle-free flagpole. The flags come equipped with a sturdy canvas header and two brass grommets for simple installation on any standard outdoor flagpole.

Buddhist Flag Meaning & History

The Buddhist flag was first designed in 1885 by a committee in British Ceylon, which today is the country of Sri Lanka. It was hoisted on May 28, 1885, to celebrate Vesak Day, a major Buddhist festival.

The six bands of the flag represent the colors of the Buddha’s aura that emanated when he attained Enlightenment. Blue represents the spirit of universal compassion, yellow is the Middle Way, red is the blessings of practice, white is the purity of Dhamma, and orange is wisdom. The last stripe, which combines all five colors, represents the overall aura or the truth of Buddha’s teachings.
