Description

Our flag of Bhutan is manufactured from high-quality nylon, a lightweight fabric that will fly proudly even in gentle breezes. Nylon is additionally a fast-drying material, which helps prevent the growth of mildew after rain. The dragon emblem and vibrant background colors are digitally printed for a fade-resistant design, even when flown under direct sunlight.

Each flag is equipped with a sturdy canvas header and brass grommets for secure and easy mounting on any outdoor flagpole. We offer these flags in sizes 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, and 6’ x 10’. Our best-selling option is the 3’ x 5’ flag, which is a great fit for our 6’ house-mounted pole.

Bhutan Flag Meaning & History

The design of Bhutan’s flag dates back to 1947, when royal family member Mayeum Choying Wangmo Dorji first conceptualized it. The dragon was initially colored green, which was changed to white in 1956. The flag also had a red background triangle that was updated to orange in 1969.

The dragon represents the Bhutanese monarchy, as rulers are known as the Druk Gyalpo, or “Dragon King of Bhutan.” It holds jewels in each of its claws, which stands for the nation’s wealth. The color yellow is taken from kabney, a scarf worn by the monarch. The orange is for Buddhism, the majority religion in Bhutan.
