Canary Islands Flag Meaning & History
Carmen, Arturo, and Jesus Sarmiento first designed the Canary Islands flag in 1961. However, it was not officially recognized until August 16, 1982.
The white, blue, and yellow colors are inspired by previous flags used to represent the region, namely those of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Province of Las Palmas.
