Additionally, nylon’s lightness means that it dries quickly after becoming wet, helping prevent mildew growth after rain. The iconic yellow and red stripes are digitally printed for vivid, UV-resistant colors.

Catalonia Flag Meaning & History

Catalonia’s flag is based on the Crown of Aragon’s coat of arms, which represented a 14th-century maritime empire that included parts of Spain, France, Italy, and Greece. The use of red bars on a yellow background dates back to the 11th century, when it was used on the coat of arms for the Count of Barcelona.

According to legend, this symbol originated in the 9th century when King Charles of West Francia drew four red lines of blood across Count Wilfred I’s golden shield during the siege of Barcelona.
