Our Costa Rica flags are manufactured in the United States from high-quality nylon, a material chosen for its durability and resistance to fraying. The nylon fabric is quick-drying, helping prevent mildew growth after rain. The flag's design is digitally printed for bright colors that are fade-resistant, even when flown in direct sunlight.

Each flag is equipped with a strong canvas heading and brass grommets for easy and secure mounting on an outdoor flagpole

Costa Rica Flag Meaning & History

The current flag design was officially adopted on September 29, 1848. It was created by Pacífica Fernández, the First Lady and wife of the president at the time. The blue bands represent the sky, idealism, and perseverance; the white symbolizes peace, wisdom, and happiness; the red stands for the blood shed for freedom and Costa Ricans’ love of life. The national coat of arms is placed within the red band on the left side, depicting ships at sea. The flag was updated in 1906, 1964, and 1998 when changes to the coat of arms were made.
