Description

This Egyptian flag is manufactured in America using nylon, a lightweight material that flies easily, even in gentle breezes. Nylon is also a quick-drying fabric, which helps to prevent mildew growth after rain. The tricolor and Eagle of Saladin are digitally printed for a bold, intricate design.

Our Egypt flags have a sturdy canvas header and brass grommets for straightforward mounting on an outdoor flagpole. We recommend adding additional grommets to the fly corners for wall-based displays or use on fences.

Flag of Egypt Features:

Egypt Flag Meaning & History

Egypt’s flag is based on the banner used by the Free Officers, a group of Egyptian Armed Forces members who instigated the 1952 Egypt Revolution. This flag also had the same tricolor design and the golden Eagle of Saladin. However, on this eagle, a green circle contained a white crescent moon and three stars representing the Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The flag was modified several times until the most recent version was adopted in 1984.

The red stripe represents the blood shed in the struggle against colonization, white is for purity, and the black stripe below the white symbolizes the triumph over darkness. Saladin, the first Sultan of Egypt, used the eagle as his personal standard. In the 1950s, this emblem was revived as a symbol of Egyptian nationalism.
