Our flag of the Faroe Islands comes with a durable canvas header and brass grommets for easy installation on an outdoor flagpole. We recommend adding additional grommets to the fly corners for wall-based displays or use on fences.

Faroe Islands Flag Meaning & History

The current flag of the Faroe Islands was designed in 1919 by college student Jens Oliver Lisberg and his friends. However, the government did not formally recognize it until 1940, during the British occupation of the islands in World War II.

Its design, along with the flags of other Nordic countries, is based on the Danish flag. The cross represents Christianity, while the red and blue used for it are traditional Faroese colors. The white background stands for the bright skies of the region.
