Description

Celebrate the culture and history of Finland with our top-quality Finnish flags!

These flags of Finland are manufactured in the United States using premium nylon fabric, a durable, fray-resistant material. Nylon is also lightweight, which allows it to fly regally even in gentle breezes. The iconic blue Nordic cross is digitally printed for vivid color and sharp lines that resist fading thanks to the UV-resistant inks used in the printing process.

Our Finland flags come equipped with a sturdy canvas heading and brass grommets for secure attachment to any of our outdoor flagpoles. The 3’ by 5’ flag is the most popular among our customers and an excellent fit for our 6’ tangle-free house-mounted flagpole.

Finland Flag Meaning & History

The national flag of Finland was adopted on May 28, 1918. After Finland declared independence in 1917 from the Russian Empire, a nationwide competition was held to determine the new national flag. One submission used the same Nordic cross design as the Danish flag, but as a yellow cross on a red field. Another entry consisted of diagonal blue and white stripes. These two designs were combined to create the blue Nordic cross we see today.

The Nordic cross on the flag of Finland is blue, symbolizing the country's lakes and skies. The cross symbol itself represents Christianity. The white background represents the snow that covers the nation in winter.
