Description

Celebrate the nation of France by flying the iconic national flag, also known as the French tricolor. These French flags are a great addition to any home, business, embassy, school, conference hall, and more!

Our flag of France is manufactured in the United States using sewn stripes, meaning each colored field is individually sewn together instead of printed onto a single piece of fabric. This process creates an authentic and durable flag built for fray resistance and weather-resistant outdoor flying.

These flags are made of nylon, a lightweight and sturdy material designed for outdoor use. Nylon’s lightness allows it to fly easily in gentle breezes and to dry quickly after becoming wet. The classic red, white, and blue colors are added using digital printing technology for bold, vibrant hues that are fade-resistant.

The national flag of France comes equipped with a durable heading and brass grommets for everyday flying from any standard flagpole. The 3’ by 5’ flag is our bestselling option and an excellent match for our 6’ house-mounted flagpole. Not sure which size you need? French Flag Colors, Meaning, and History

The French flag is profoundly symbolic and one of the oldest and most influential flags in modern history. It drew on a few different sources for its inspiration: the royal French army, the storming of the Bastille, and ancient French folklore. In the days before the French Revolution, the royal French flag consisted of a golden fleur-de-lis and a blue shield on a white background, from which the modern flag took its royal shade of blue.

The Paris militia famously wore red-and-blue knotted ribbons (sewn on their hats) into battle during the French Revolution. According to French folklore and military legend, white was “the ancient and original color of France.” With these three colors, the national flag was created and adopted as the official flag of France in 1790 and modified in 1794.

The iconic tricolor pattern has been famously borrowed and used as the basis for the flags of hundreds of nations across the globe. Today, France’s flag is rich with revolutionary spirit and is often proudly flown on Bastille Day.
