Description

Celebrate the natural beauty of Montana by flying the official Montana state flag!

Our Montana flags are proudly manufactured in the United States using high-quality nylon fabric. This allows the flags to fly easily in mild winds and to dry quickly after becoming wet, helping prevent mildew growth. The dark blue background and state seal are digitally printed for precise details and bold, deep colors that are fade-resistant.

Each state flag of Montana sized 6’ by 10’ and under comes equipped with a reinforced canvas header and brass grommets for quick attachment to any of our outdoor flagpoles. Flags sized 8’ by 12’ and larger are instead finished with nylon rope and thimbles for added security and durability.

Montana Flag Features

  • Made in America

Montana Flag Meaning & History

Montana’s state flag, created in 1895 by Harry Kessler, depicts the state seal on a dark blue field. It was officially adopted by the state in 1905. No further modifications were made until July 1, 1981, when the text “MONTANA” was added to differentiate it from other blue state flags with seals.

The seal depicts the Rocky Mountains, an important part of Montana’s topography and name. It also depicts a river to represent the state's vast stretches of beautiful natural scenery. The center of the seal features the Great Falls, a significant and distinctive landmark in Montana. The plow, shovel, and pickaxe represent the state’s agriculture and mining industry. The words on the bottom ribbon are the state motto, “Oro y Plata,” Spanish for “Gold and Silver.”
