Description
Fly the South Dakota flag as a tribute to the state's breathtaking landscapes, historic legacy, and resilient spirit.
Our flag of South Dakota is made from high-quality, quick-drying nylon, making it suitable for outdoor flying. The lightweight nature of the nylon fabric means that the flag will fly majestically, even in gentle breezes. The flag's design, featuring South Dakota's official seal and colors, is digitally printed, providing UV resistance and helping prevent fading even when flown in direct sunlight.
Each of our South Dakota flags, sized 6’ by 10’ and under, comes equipped with a sturdy canvas header and brass grommets. Flags that are 8’ by 12’ and larger are instead finished with nylon rope and thimbles for added security. Our flags are designed for easy attachment to any outdoor flagpole, such as our bestselling 6’ tangle-free house-mounted flagpole. Refer to our table of flagpole heights and recommended flag size matches to determine which size flag is right for you.

South Dakota Flag Meaning & History
The state flag of South Dakota is based on the one used from 1909 to 1963. It had a yellow sun in the center surrounded by the text “South Dakota / The Sunshine State.” In 1963, the flag was modified to add the state seal inside the sun. The modern flag only has a slight change: In 1992, the state nickname on the flag was updated to “The Mount Rushmore State.”
