Description

Our flags of Sudan are constructed in America from nylon, a fray-resistant fabric built for outdoor use. Nylon is a light material, which means it can fly proudly even in gentle breezes. The tricolor and green triangle are digitally printed for deep, UV-resistant colors.

Each flag comes equipped with a robust canvas header and brass grommets for reliable mounting on one of our outdoor flagpoles. We offer Sudan flags in the sizes 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, and 6’ x 10’. If you aren’t sure which size is right for you, refer to our table of standard pole heights and their proportional flag size.

Sudan Flag Meaning & History

The current national flag of Sudan was adopted on May 20, 1970, following a nationwide design competition. Artist Abdel Rahman Ahmed Al-Jali submitted the winning entry.

The flag's colors are directly inspired by the pan-Arab colors of red, white, black, and green. The red stripe symbolizes the fight for independence, while the white is for optimism and light. The black stripe represents Sudan itself, which translates from Arabic to English as ‘land of the Black people.’ The green triangle stands for agriculture and Islam, the country's majority religion.
