Description

Display the United Nations Flag at your conference center, diplomatic building, or school event. These flags are also an excellent choice for schools hosting Model United Nations programs.

Our UN flag is manufactured in the United States from nylon, a durable, weather-resistant fabric designed for outdoor use. The nylon used in this flag is lightweight, allowing it to fly regally in mild winds and dry quickly after rain, helping prevent mildew growth. The blue background and white central emblem on our UN flags are digitally printed for vibrant, fade-resistant colors, even when flown in direct sunlight.

Each UN flag comes with a strong canvas header and two brass grommets for easy attachment to any standard outdoor flagpole. Our United Nations flags are available in a range of sizes from 2’ x 3’ up to 6’ x 10’, including the standard flag size of 3’ x 5’. If you aren’t certain which size to choose, take a look at our table of common flagpole heights and their recommended flag size.

United Nations Flag Meaning & History

The design of the UN flag originated in 1945, when a United Nations Conference in California decided to give all participating delegates lapel pins. It originally placed North America in the center of the map, which was changed to the North Pole in 1946. A flag featuring this emblem was officially adopted on October 20, 1947.

The UN flag is colored light blue as a contrast to red, the color of war. The map in the center depicts all landmasses and countries of the world, except for Antarctica. It is surrounded by two olive branches, which represent peace.
