Nylon Air Force Flags
Nylon is an excellent general-purpose lightweight fabric that can fly easily in mild winds. Additionally, nylon is a quick-drying material, which helps prevent mildew growth in humid or rainy areas. Our nylon Air Force flags are available in sizes 12” x 18”, 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, and 6’ x 10’. If you aren’t sure which size is right for you, look at our table of flag sizes and matching pole heights.
Polyester Air Force Flags
Polyester is a heavier-duty fabric designed for rough wind and weather conditions. We recommend using a polyester flag if you live in a coastal region, near saltwater, or experience high winds. We offer the polyester Air Force flag in the size 3’ by 5’.
Please note that polyester flags weigh more than nylon ones, making them too heavy for most house-mounted poles. Consider flying polyester flags on an in-ground flagpole instead.
Note: To increase the lifetime of your flag, avoid use during inclement weather conditions. For more tips, check out our blog on flag care.

Air Force Flag Meaning & History
The Air Force is the second youngest United States military branch. Officially founded in 1947 as an independent service, aerial forces were deployed as part of the Army as early as WW1. Only 4 percent of service members are pilots; most personnel work to defend the country's air, space, and cyberspace through mission support, security and law enforcement, and rescue missions.
The flag of the Air Force was designed by Dorothy G. Gatchell and adopted on March 26, 1951. The flag consists of 13 white stars and the Air Force seal, all on an ultramarine blue background.
The stars symbolize the original 13 colonies, and the three stars above the gold eagle expressly represent cooperation between the Air Force, Army, and Navy branches. The Air Force’s official color is ultramarine blue, in honor of the sky. The gold of the eagle and seal symbolizes the sun and the excellence required of branch personnel.
