Description

Show your love for the land of the Outback with our high-quality Australian flags!

Our national flag of Australia is manufactured in the United States from premium nylon fabric, a durable and weather-resistant material built for outdoor flying. Nylon is a lightweight fabric that can fly proudly even in gentle breezes and dries quickly after rain to help prevent mildew growth. The Union Jack, Southern Cross, and Commonwealth Star are digitally printed for bright, bold colors that are UV-resistant, even when flown under direct sunlight.

Each Australian flag has a sturdy canvas heading and brass grommets for secure, easy mounting on any of our outdoor flagpoles. We offer Australia’s flag in sizes 12” x 18” through 6’ x 10’. The 3’ by 5’ size is our best-selling option and a great match for our popular 6’ tangle-free pole

Australia Flag Features

  • Made in the USA
  • Authentic 1908 design
  • 100% pure nylon

Australian Flag Meaning & History

Australia’s flag is a variant of the British Blue Ensign, which depicts a Union Jack in the upper left corner on a dark blue background. This flag was commonly flown by British vessels and often became the regional flag of British colonies. In most cases, the colony's seal was added to the dark blue field. The Australian national flag is unique in that it uses stars instead of a seal or emblem.

The biggest star, positioned directly underneath the Union Jack, is the Commonwealth Star. This seven-pointed star symbolizes the creation of the Federation of Australia on January 1, 1901. On this day, the British colonies of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia became united. The other five stars represent the Southern Cross constellation, which can be found in the country’s night sky.

Australian Flag vs New Zealand Flag

The Australian Commonwealth flag is very similar to that of New Zealand, which is also based on the British Blue Ensign. However, New Zealand’s flag only has four red stars instead of six white ones. These stars symbolize the Southern Cross constellation as well.
