Bolivia Flag Meaning & History
The red, yellow, and green stripes of the Bolivian flag dates all the way back to its adoption on October 31, 1851. Bolivia's official symbolism assigns a specific meaning to each stripe: red represents the blood shed by the revolutionaries who founded the Republic, yellow stands for Bolivia's mineral and natural resources, and green symbolizes the local ecology and hope.
The civil ensign of Bolivia only contains these three stripes. On the state flag, the national coat of arms is displayed in the center, which includes symbols reflecting the country's geography, struggle for independence, and natural resources.
