Description

Proudly fly the national flag of India in front of any home, business, school, or government office!

Our India flags are manufactured in the United States using nylon, a durable fabric designed for outdoor and indoor use. Nylon is lightweight and quick-drying, ensuring your flag flies regally in the breeze and helps prevent mildew growth after rain. The iconic tricolor and Chakra emblem are digitally printed for precise details and vibrant, fade-resistant colors.

Each Indian flag comes equipped with a robust canvas heading and brass grommets for secure hoisting on any of our outdoor flagpoles. Not sure which size to choose? For recommendations, check out our table of standard flagpole heights and their matching proportional flag size. The 3’ by 5’ India flag is our most popular option and an excellent match for our 6’ house-mounted flagpole

India National Flag Meaning & History

India’s flag was adopted on July 22, 1947, shortly before India became an independent state within the British Empire. The design was designated the national flag when the region became a sovereign nation in 1950. Locally, the flag is known as the Tiraṅgā, which means “tricolor”.

Pingali Venkayya, an Indian freedom fighter and academic, created the initial designs for the national flag. The center of the flag initially contained a charkha, or yarn-spinning wheel. It was substituted with the modern chakra design in 1947 before the flag’s widespread adoption.

The saffron orange stripe on the Indian flag stands for sacrifice and courage, the white for truth and peace, and the green for faith. In the center is the Ashoka Chakra, which symbolizes the Buddha’s teachings and the path to enlightenment. Its use on the flag represents progress and the nation's movement forward.
