Show your Great Lakes State pride with this high-quality American-made state flag of Michigan!

Our authentic Michigan flags are made in the United States out of nylon, which ensures durability while remaining light enough to fly gracefully, even in the lightest breezes. The quick-drying material helps prevent mildew buildup after rain and high humidity. Our Michigan flags are digitally printed for intricate details and bright, vibrant colors that are fade-resistant.

Each state of Michigan flag comes equipped with a sturdy canvas header and brass grommets for secure attachment to an outdoor flagpole. The 3’ by 5’ Michigan flag is our best-selling option, and fits great on our popular house-mounted pole. If you aren’t sure which size best suits your setup, check out our table of flagpole heights and their corresponding flag size

Michigan Flag Meaning & History

Michigan began as a French colony and became a British territory in the 1700s. British ownership was short-lived, and the region became a United States territory following the American Revolution. Finalizing Michigan’s borders was lengthy; Michigan was finally incorporated into the Union in 1837 as the 26th state.

The current Michigan state flag was adopted in 1911. It features a coat of arms that celebrates Michigan's geography, nature, and history as a frontier state.

The design features three Latin mottos. From top to bottom, they are:

  1. "E Pluribus Unum" means "Out of many, one," a United States motto.
  2. "Tuebor" means "I will defend."
  3. "Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice" means "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you,” the official state motto.

The elk and moose featured in the coat of arms are state symbols of Michigan, and the bald eagle represents the United States.
