Description

Just received a half-staff notification, but can’t lower your flag to half-staff? Show your respect using a black mourning ribbon. These ribbons are designed to be attached above the flag, in the same place where you would put a flagpole ornament. This is an excellent solution for flagpoles without a halyard (rope) for raising and lowering the flag.

Mourning Black Ribbon Meaning

During a national tragedy or when a prominent individual passes away, the US flag is lowered to half-staff as a sign of respect. To do this, the flag should be quickly raised to the top of the pole and then lowered to the halfway point. When a flag is unable to be lowered to the half-staff position, it is customary to use a black mourning ribbon or bow.
