Description
Just received a half-staff notification, but can’t lower your flag to half-staff? Show your respect using a black ribbon of mourning.
Our mourning ribbons measure 60 inches long by 2 inches wide. Each one is made from nylon, a durable and weather-resistant material used as the basis for most of our flags.
The mourn ribbon features a brass grommet at one end for attachment to your flagpole. These ribbons are designed to be attached above the flag, in the same place where you would put a flagpole ornament. This is an excellent solution for flagpoles without a halyard (rope) for raising and lowering the flag.

Meaning of the Black Ribbon for Mourning
During a national tragedy or when a prominent individual passes away, the US flag is lowered to half-staff as a sign of respect. To do this, the flag should be quickly raised to the top of the pole and lowered to the halfway point. When a flag cannot be lowered to the half-staff position, it is customary to use a mourning half-staff streamer or bow.
