Pakistan Flag Meaning & History
The design of Pakistan’s national flag originated with the 1937 flag of the political party All-India Muslim League. This flag didn’t have a white stripe on the left, and had the crescent and star in the very center of the flag. The modern version was adopted on August 11, 1947, shortly before Pakistan gained independence from the British Empire.
The green background represents the traditional color of Islam, the majority religion of Pakistan. The white stripe on the left stands for other religions present in the country. The white star and crescent moon are commonly used symbols of Islam, with the crescent representing progress, and the star symbolizing light and knowledge.
