British Virgin Islands Flag Meaning & History
The British Virgin Islands adopted its first unique flag on November 15, 1960. The Islands had previously been part of the British Leeward Islands, a colony that was split up into several smaller ones.
The design uses the British Blue Ensign with the national coat of arms on the right. The coat of arms consists of a green shield on which Saint Ursula is depicted, with the oil lamps representing her followers.
