Description
Show your appreciation for the Magnolia State with our American-made Mississippi flags!
Our Mississippi state flag is manufactured in the United States from nylon, a sturdy and lightweight fabric. Nylon is durable and resists weather damage, making it ideal for outdoor flying. Additionally, nylon’s lightness means that it dries quickly, helping prevent mildew growth after rain and high humidity. The design of our state flag of Mississippi is digitally printed for bold and vibrant colors. The inks used in the printing process are UV-resistant, which helps minimize fading due to sun exposure.
Each flag sized 6’ by 10’ and under comes equipped with a strong canvas header and brass grommets, making this flag easy to attach to an outdoor flagpole. Our flags of MS that are 8’ by 12’ and larger are instead finished with nylon rope and thimbles for increased security and heavy-duty flying. Not sure which size to choose? Mississippi Flag History & Meaning
Mississippi’s first state flag, which featured a magnolia tree on a white background, was adopted in 1861. However, this design was abandoned four years later. In 1894, a second flag was designed, which combined three horizontal stripes of blue, white, and red with the Confederate battle flag in the canton. On June 28, 2020, the Mississippi Legislature began developing a plan to create a revised design.
The new Mississippi flag was adopted on January 11, 2021. It reintroduced the magnolia design of the first flag in honor of the state’s official flag and flower. The 20 white stars surrounding the flower represent Mississippi’s status as the 20th state to join the Union. The red and blue fields refer to the American flag, while the gold stripes symbolize culture and the arts.
