Description

These Slovenia flags are manufactured in the USA from nylon, a tough, weather-resistant fabric built for outdoor flying. Nylon is also quick-drying, which helps prevent mildew growth after rain. The tricolor and national coat of arms are digitally printed for intricate details and bold, fade-resistant colors.

Each flag has a robust canvas header and brass grommets for secure attachment to any of our outdoor flagpoles. We offer Slovenian flags in the sizes 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, and 6’ x 10’. If you aren’t sure which size is right for you, view our table of standard pole heights and their matching flag size.

Slovenia Flag Meaning & History

The white, blue, and red tricolor appeared as a Slovene flag on April 7, 1848, when it was raised in Ljubljana to represent all Slovenes living in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. When Slovenia formed part of Yugoslavia between 1945 and 1991, a red star was placed in the flag's center. On June 7, 1991, the star was removed and replaced with a newly designed coat of arms.

The flag’s colors are taken from the Duchy of Carniola’s coat of arms, a region that was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. White, blue, and red are also traditional Pan-Slavic colors. The coat of arms depicts Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia. Below it are two wavy lines representing the nation’s rivers, while the three stars above symbolize the noble family Celje.
