Description

Our flag of the Solomon Islands is manufactured in the United States from nylon, a lightweight fabric that dries quickly after contact with water, helping prevent mildew growth. The design is added using digital printing technology for vivid colors that are fade-resistant, even when flown in direct sunlight.

These flags come equipped with a robust canvas header and brass grommets for secure attachment to any of our outdoor flagpoles. We offer the Solomon Islands flag in the sizes 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, and 6’ x 10’. Refer to our table of standard pole heights and their proportional flag size to determine which option is right for you.

Solomon Islands Flag Meaning & History

When the Solomon Islands were part of the British Empire, they flew a British Blue Ensign with the regional coat of arms. In 1975, to prepare for the country’s upcoming independence, a contest for the new national flag was held. The design in third place, created by an art teacher from New Zealand, was chosen. It was officially adopted on November 18, 1977, a few months before gaining independence.

The blue triangle represents water and the Pacific Ocean, while the green is for the land and agriculture. The yellow line symbolizes the sun. The five white stars in the upper left corner stand for the five original provinces at the time of independence.
