Description

Florida is known as the Sunshine State for its subtropical climate and stunning beaches that span over 8,000 miles of coastline. Celebrate the home of Disney World, NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, and the Flags.com headquarters with your own state flag of Florida!

Fly your authentic American-made Florida flag today and make your friends jealous that they don’t live in a place where the beach is right around the corner. We would know, we live here!

We offer Florida state flags in a wide variety of sizes and your choice of nylon or polyester fabric. Each flag of Florida has a sturdy canvas header and brass grommets for flying on an outdoor flagpole. Flags sized 8’ x 12’ and larger instead feature rope and thimbles for added support.

Nylon Florida Flags

Nylon is an excellent general-use fabric, as it is lightweight and dries quickly. Flags of Florida constructed from nylon are available in the sizes 12” x 18”, 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, 6’ x 10’, 8’ x 12’, 10’ x 15’, and 12’ x 18’.

The 3’ x 5’ nylon state flag of Florida is our best-selling option and an excellent fit for our 6’ tangle-free pole.

Polyester Florida Flags

We recommend the durable polyester flag for people living close to the ocean or other saltwater environments. However, polyester flags are too heavy for use on most house-mounted flagpoles. Polyester Florida flags are available in sizes 4’ x 6’ and 5’ x 8’.

Florida state flags made of either material should always be taken in when preparing for hurricanes.

Florida Flag Meaning & History

From 1868 to 1900, the Florida flag depicted the state seal on a plain white background. The Floridian Governor at the time, Francis P. Fleming, recommended adding a red saltire to the design, which voters approved in a referendum. This design was adopted on November 6, 1900. On May 21, 1985, the state seal on Florida’s flag was re-drawn in a different art style.

The Florida state flag features the Seal of Florida in the center and reads “In God We Trust,” the official state motto. The flag colors include a field of white with diagonal red bars, or saltire, behind the Seal. The red bars, also known as St. Andrew’s Cross, are based on the Spanish Cross of Burgundy, which the Spanish government used as a standard for the region starting in 1513.
