Description

Fly the EU flag outside your government office, hotel, or conference center to represent all member states in the European Union!

Our European flags are manufactured in the United States using nylon, a durable and weather-resistant fabric built for outdoor flying. Nylon is lightweight, allowing it to fly regally in gentle breezes. Its lightness also means it can dry quickly after wet weather, helping prevent mildew growth and environmental damage. The blue background and 12 stars on our European Union flags are digitally printed for vivid colors that are UV-resistant, even when flown in direct sunlight.

These EU flags come equipped with a strong canvas header and brass grommets for reliable mounting on any of our outdoor flagpoles. We offer the Europe flag in the sizes 2’ x 3’, 3’ x 5’, 4’ x 6’, 5’ x 8’, and 6’ x 10’. If you aren’t sure which size best suits your setup, check out our table of flag sizes and their matching flagpole height

How Many Stars Are on the EU Flag?

The flag of Europe features 12 gold stars in its design. The number 12 is associated with ‘entirety’ and order, and the use of 12 stars on the flag represents the whole of Europe. This number also plays a significant role in local religions. For example, the ancient Greeks had 12 major deities, the Olympians. This number also appears in Judaism and Christianity, such as Jacob’s 12 sons and Jesus’ 12 followers.

The arrangement of the stars in a circle is drawn from the constellation Corona Borealis, which represents a crown and the unified European governments.

European Union Flag History

The flag of the EU was first adopted by the Council of Europe on December 9, 1955, a related but separate organization from the European Union. Its design process included many people, with significant input from Paul M. G. Lévy and Arsène Heitz. This design was later adopted as the official banner of the European Union on June 29, 1985.

The flag's blue background symbolizes the skies above the continent, while the gold stars represent the sun.
